Because of my martial arts and also where I work I come into to contact with so many different cultures etc it really doesn't bother me. I had a long term relationship with a mixed race girl in the past too.

I try to understand the difference and make adjustments. For example some of the African guys I work with can come across as aggressive when they are not, it's just how their language and accents translate into English. It's almost like their native language is spoken in a demanding way. Once you understand these things it makes it easier.

The Roma's I encountered though was the same as all the other times I've had to deal with them. Very aggressive, demanding, exasperated and like spoilt children tbh. It's hard to warm to people who act this way all the time.

I forgot to add when I went to get my X-ray the woman there wS having a bad day it seems as she was very prickly towards me especially when she was told it was my other leg that needed crating and I couldn't straighten it. It meant I couldn't have a proper X-ray. Glad it didn't need amputating as they put the wrong leg on my notes !!

Managed to borrow a wheel chair so going to try and get to the shops later for some fresh air. I'm really seeing the world through the disabled persons eyes now and it's the silliest things that cause the problems.

Never been camping a wheelchair or on crutches before but if it means we all get to go France in August still I'm well up for the challenge 😁

Thankfully all the exercise I do means I have strong shoulders but just two days on crutches is making me ache. By August my guns will be huge is this drags on 👍

Have visited A+E almost every day/week escorting custodies over the years and not a pleasant experience at the best of times.
We were used to the abuse/language but I always felt sorry for the general public, especially children when we were all in the one waiting area, usually for hours.

Our charges were generally fuelled by Drugs and/or Alcohol which made things even worse and most liked putting on a show as if it was expected.

Have had to help out hospital staff on many occasions from the morons who frequent the A+E at most times of the day, unfortunately that tends to be their normal behaviour wherever they are!

Thankfully I am retired and don't miss any of it.

There was an interesting article on the BBC last night showing a town who now have a converted bus and nurse in the town centre weekend nights to deal with all the drink related accidents, most of them fairly minor. I think that's a brill idea, if those patients are kept out of A&E it'll make a huge difference.

Surely if any injuries caused by sports or other activities such as Martial Arts,Boxing Football, Tennis, Swimming,Walking,Running,Climbing, Shove halfpenny etc..etc.. are deemed as self inflicted.

Keeping fit and doing Diy etc all bring risk as does crossing the road but the benefits are surely worth it.

Absolutely. Fit and active people who sustain an occasional injury requiring NHS treatment are far less of a drain on resources than those who are inactive.

I agree wholeheartedly that there are too many rid epeople in A&E with preventable, fairly minor stuff and a massive sense of entitlement. The system is such that no matter what befalls you (or you do to yourself), dedicated, skilled people will do their utmost to make it better. And people moan about waiting an hour or three for it. Crazy.
