Depends on my mood but as their numbers are fairly easy to recognise on caller ID, my latest is, as soon as I pick the phone up I ask for their credit card details and tell them calls are charged at $8 a minute. Sometimes, if I'm in a good mood I'll start having one sided phone sex with them, that seems to work really well, especially if it's a man calling LOL

The 2nd time they called me they told me the windows key looked like a flag, I asked them which countries flag, "I can't see a Scottish flag, is it blowing in the wind".
My parents were pestered time and time again about having a conservatory fitted so in the end my dad discussed it all on the phone set up an appointment etc then before hanging up he asked if the stilts were made of wood or metal, the caller was very confused until my dad explained they were one up in a flat lol

Took advice from people on here and got a call blocking phone. Yes, we still twitch a bit but if the phone only rings twice and then goes silent, it's another call blocked. When we check the calls list, it's quite fascinating.
For Mum's funeral service - this was at home - I disconnected the phone - didn't want the answerphone bleeb. Once over, I re-connected and in next couple of hours we had 10 calls, all scams. One intrepid individual did use the announced call facility and, as I know I have a friend of 50 years who is dying and son had same name as given so accepted call, only to find it was one of the c**p calls. I lost the plot - guess what? - the Minister took the phone and told the caller what was what in blunt terms without a single swear word - I wish I had his command of the English language.
Incidentally, has anyone has an increase of these scam calls getting later and later in the evenings? I had one at 2200 last night and it wasn't International.

had a mate who got pestered from a company selling conservatories,finally decided to have a laugh with them. told them that he could not get planning permission, and you better send someone out to survey and quote. appointment set and he sat by the window waiting on the rep to turn up.when he saw him he went out onto his balcony 4 stories up in a flat and shouted down to the rep NOW do you see my problem. rep not best pleased

Just say hang on, i'll turn it on. Then leave the phone unattended for 10 minutes before quietly hanging up. They haven't rung back anyway.

I have had 4 calls over two days from someone wanting to get into my computer. I am just fed up that my phone only rings now with scams or sales. In fact it is always on answerphone only had it turned on for last two days and this happens.
My mobile is starting to get a few but I never give the number out on line so hope to keep it to a minimum. Only family and friends have that number.

crikey i thought i was a jedi night at winding these scamers up.
but looks like i am a yts compared to some of you lot.
find some good music for when you put them on hold.
some of the noisiest opera (works real quick)
ive also got one that plays the first few seconds of a song then sounds like an old record thats caught in a groove.

I don't have time to play these folk along, and being told "I know where you live" is scary even though it's not true. I used to store the numbers in the phone's memory calling them "scam 1, scam 2" etc so that OH wouldn't answer it, but the memory wasn't big enough - I must have at least 50 different numbers. If I answer, when I'm expecting another call, I put the phone face down and leave it until it starts to buzz to say it's off the hook. If it's important, and I don't answer, the caller will leave a message.

Had a pestering conservatory company send a rep found to my first floor flat many years ago. He blew a gasket when I asked where it was going to be put.
Accused me of wasting his time and I pointed out the zillions of calls his company kept making to me were wasting mine so perhaps he could sort it out or I would be booking more reps to come round.
They stopped after that. Nothing like costing a company money to focus their attention.
I told another scammer to be careful what he said as I thought I was undergoing police surveillance for drug smuggling. He couldn't cut off quick enough lol.
Had a gumtree scammer trying to send his agent to collect something. I asked if the agent was James Bond or Jason Bourne and he didn't get it. He then replied he was at camp hence the agent collecting.
I replied I like men too and he's all confused in his response. Oh I said I thought you said you were camp ie gay. He stopped emailing after that .
