Been having a sort out and have 3 laptops that no longer work (two of them don't even start up - completely dead) that belonged to the kids going back years.
The reason I haven't thrown them out before now is I can't wipe the hard drive on them because they won't boot up and don't want personal details falling into the wrong hands. I also know that certain components should be recycled safely as they cannot be disposed of in normal landfill.
There are several companies online offering to pay you for old laptops, wipe the data etc. but I'm very sceptical. Has anyone used these services and can offer advice?
Look underneath and if there is not a clip that allows the hard drive to be removed there will be a screwed section. Open it up, remove the drive and either destroy the drive or get an adapter so you can plug it into a usb port on another machine so you can completely clean it.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
If you want to completely wipe the hard driv you will need to use a special software programme.

Google hard drive images and you can see what they look like,it depends on the laptop which one,or google the laptop and search for hard drive.

Your best bet for security is to remove the hard drive entirely and destroy it - a lump hammer works well for this task. You're looking for something like this:

Yep I would also recommend the "lump hammer" method..works every time! Unless you need to get some data from the hard drive.
