Hi Davep, Sorry to read your wife's condition deteriorated, and you cant get around as much, Mileage limit is 30,000mls now. As I said earlier " No doubt many Mobility Customers have had a really good service in the scheme, but I have not, I have found it woefully inadequate in my case " .
I had my own car, and paid for insurance and repairs if needed, due to wife's condition the car was no longer suitable for her.
I was in the process of looking for a replacement car when we received the mobility brochure, we phoned Mobility to enquire about the scheme, we were given all the benefits to joining the scheme, and if your car is off road for any reason, your car would be replaced with one of same or similar type, call us and we will arrange the relevant firms to contact you.
That did happened on the initial contact, all went wrong when they could not supply a car suitable to the one we had, that is when I found out that they only could supply small cars,(which were not suitable for my wife) and all that after being informed the insurance had authorised the upgrade to the same sized family car that I had.
It was when I asked for the email address of head office, it was then and only then I was told they had another hire firm they could use.
I would not even have bothered about a replacement car, if it had not been for the fact my wife had a spate of hospital appointments.
The mobility scheme I agree is a god send to 99% of the disabled population that use it.
I'm sorry Dave, I do not regard being given No information on the cars they really do supply as a replacement, Given misinformation on questions asked, and having to make umpteen call to sort out the situation, as being very professional in this instance.
Vangoman02, stings attached, yes, family sized car advance payment range from £700 to £4000 every 3 years,( and I think can be taken over 5 year lease?) , Tow bar fitted average £350+ every 3years (has to be approved by Mobility lease company).
Van brake down recovery, if taken out with Company other than RSA, Mobility car damaged you are liable for damage.
Kojack, read above, could make moan a bit longer.
Alpiner, So called rant is vented frustration at the past and present situation, and I hope to god you never have to experience it.
Millermicm. Sorry don’t know what book you are reading, No it is not Free read above, plus you pay National health insurance all your working life to provide a service if and when it is needed in later life and that is what the allowance is for.
Madz, Totally agree it is stupid after all the adaptations car has to be changed every 3years as the norm.
Fram1000, As far as I am aware the lease can be terminated any time within the 3 year period, if the car is no longer suitable for the disabled person, on notifying Mobility of the situation the car lease is terminated, car recovered, an your allowance is restored back to you, at leased that is what I was informed of by Mobility when I initially joined the scheme.
------------- If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.
John
