Please help settle a drink problem between me and my friend. The problem is: If you have a 30% abv 1 ltr bottle of vodka (or any other well known drink!)and you add a 1 ltr bottle of 10% abv do you end up with a bottle of 20% abv or a bottle of 40% abv vodka.
One sensible answer would be helpful then you can start taking the P..... Lol
No different to a physics question once put to us as young teenagers.
If you have two separate litres of water, one at 60 degrees and one at 40 degrees, what is the temperature of the water if they are mixed together? Ignore losses due to cooling.

I drink Bacardi which is 24% proof. If there are 24 tots in the bottle does that mean each tot is only 1% proof?
Well thats what I have been telling the wife for years

Proof and percentage aren't the same thing. Without getting into Specific Gravities and all that - proof is pretty much double the percentage. A 40% vodka would be 80 proof.
