As far as MS are concerned that would be a new computer and your free upgrade to windows 10 was not available for it. The easiest way of dealing with that would have been to reinstall either windows 7 or 8 and then do another free upgrade to 10.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Wouldn't windows 7 have registered it as a new computer? I suppose it is a new computer as I am still running the old one with Linux on it.The only reason I needed a new one was because W10 was unstable on the old one.I am not running 2 versions of it though so not really cheating.

The support technician was really helpful in getting the new product key and all is well now.

To be honest I would have been happy to continue with W7.

Windows 7 would have registered it as a new computer, it might even have refused to auto activate, but if it does that you just use the option to activate by telephone and when they ask how many machines it is installed tell them 1 and all goes through.
Then you can upgrade to windows 10 for free.

Here is the M - Soft number I use 0344 800 2400 it is for everything.
very simple and if your using a smart phone they do it all by text message
dead easy
I have used it a few times in one week to activate office after a clean install of win 7 (Non generic version) and then 7 days later when I got my win 10 upgrade
I had to activate office again for some reason.

I took the bullet and downloaded windows 10, then 5days later I uninstalled it.

You only have 1 month to go back to 7 if you want to tho.

My scanner wouldn't work, my screen went blank after 1min if keyboard not touched, despite altering hibernation sleep etc. Having to log back in all the time.

My email instead of being already split into 3, promo's social and normal categories went into one so all my emails were visible.

I wasn't able to save a document, tried for 30 mins to save as, gave up in the end, and went onto the get windows office/word button and yes I had to pay for it.

My pictures were not easy to find and just didn't like it, sounds like I'm getting too old to faff about with it to make it what I want.

So it's gone

I went to Windows 10, don't like the photos app thing, don't go to that now, took to long to find pics, go to file explorer now. Scanned a photo to put it on the net and found out it wouldn't transfer to my computer. After doing a lot of cursing I found a new driver download for Windows 10 for my printer/scanner on the Canon website. Panic over. Getting used to Windows 10 now.
