I have a box full of old sheets of music which belonged to my parents. Has anybody any ideas of what I could do with it? It would be so upsetting to take it to the tip for recycling as many of the pieces are sentimental. If I have to do that then I will but it seems such a waste.
It is piano music. My mother sang and my father was a brilliant pianist.
Thank you for your suggestions. Much better than the tip. I like the scrapbook idea, I could use the sentimental pieces which bring back happy memories.
When I was very young in the forties and early fifties I remember my mother teaching me to sing 'Bless this House' whilst she played the piano. I also remember her teaching me 'Alice Blue Gown' and my dad playing the piano whilst I sang.
It's odd because I'm a hopeless singer now.I obviously didn't inherit my mother's voice. I can play the piano though, self taught.I'm not brilliant but good enough to have played in assemblies in school.
A local music school may welcome it. My son plays piano so I gave him my dad's piano music from the 40's and 50's. He loves them all. All the war time songs, Vera Llyn and big bands.
