Dont go down the surgery route until you have checked out Ortho K contact lenses. Once you have had surgery there is no going back. I have been using the Ortho K system for years now with no problems. I wear special lenses over night(so no problems with dry eyes, irritation etc. They reshape the front of the eye overnight. I take the lenses out in the morning and my eyesight is perfect for the rest of the day. I also have the eyesight in both eyes set at different 'powers' so I can read without glasses. This isnt permanent so nothing should go wrong. Also as you age the perscription can accommodate those changes. You only have to be one of the unlucky ones with surgery and have something go wrong to be permanently stuck with the results. Dont forget they are actually removing a thin layer of lense. Its a resonably new technology and no one yet knows what thd outcome will be as people reach old age.
Post script Thought I had best clarify the lenses look like normal hard lenses and you DONT wear them during the day

Everyone's eyes change as they age (most folk start to need reading glasses in their 50s), and laser surgery is not necessarily for ever: at some point in future, the muscle changes that happen internally will no longer be offset by the fact that the front of the eye was previously shaved off to change the focal length. There's not much evidence yet of second-time laser work, but there must be a limit to how much can be sliced off. I've worn dual-prescription (astigmatism plus very short sight) contacts all my adult life without any problems, my OH wears a daily disposable one in one eye for golfing (sees close up with the naked eye to hit the ball, sees where the ball lands with the contacted eye). Before any laser surgery, I'd at least try daily disposables - the trial (about a week's worth of lenses) is free. Some disposables can stay in overnight too.

I did meet a woman in her 30s who'd opted for cataract surgery in both eyes even though she didn't have cataracts. She played badminton and wanted clear vision, but it seems a bit drastic to me!
