Hi Steve, how do you get power to the transcend drivepro 200 in your trucks? I'm looking for one for our company truck, but it's got no usb ports in it

i hard wired in a ciggy lighter plug to the top shelve above windscreen so that the power cable does not need to be cut.

Just an update I have fitted a mobius cam to my car and have now ordered another for the rear. It works a treat but took a bit of getting used to.
Personally what I like is how configurable it is. As I do shifts I often can be travelling in the dark early hours. As the camera has two modes I've configured one for general recording and the other for lowlight recording. It only takes a press of a button to switch between them. Obviously I won't bother with the rear one and just leave it on general settings.

The wiring kit from maplins makes it a doddle to wire in. Just find a fuse that is ignition live and plug in the wiring kit. Next connect the earth under a bolt nearby.

This means I just get in the car and it starts recording as soon as I turn on the ignition. I have also set it up to continue recording a minute after turning off the ignition.

Tonight on the way home two people pulled out in front of me and it's reassuring knowing you have proof in case I wasn't able to stop.

Definitely check out dashcamtalk.com as there is so much advice and superb reviews. It's a bit like this forum but for dash cams.

I found out a lot about stuff written by uk posters. It depends how deep you dig i suppose. i found out links to authorised sellers of the cam i wanted and saved a fair bit by using them.

A lot of these products are in worldwide use, no different to any other type of camera. The only thing that changes is the roads we use them onmost car based vehicles still use 12v all over the world as far as im aware.

From mounting solutions to which product i found stacks of info using it.

Each to theit own, if its of no use to anyone just ignore it and move on.

Well, I got one.

Went for the Transcend DrivePro 200 in the end after A LOT of research.

And also watching review videos on YouTube etc which helped make the final decision.

The dash cam is proving extremely useful so far. I noticed a dodgy looking van coming out of my cul de sac when i came home one day. The driver was checking all the houses out and driving a little too slow having a good look. Later that day there were two burglaries locally just after the time when i saw the van.

Emailed the local copper with a detailed description and registration and the option of video footage if they need it.

He could be totally innocent but the intel is valuable for the police.

Also almost run over a ninja cyclist at 2 am the other night coming home from work. A black person wearing black clothing and with no lights or reflectors isnt the easiest road user to spot at 2am.

Its because this senario of ninja cyclists happens a lot that i got the dash cams.

One day i couldnt work out why the car in front pulled away and suddenly stopped. He had run over a cyclist of the description above who jumped a red light. Pure crazy, no lights and jumping a red light in the dark.

We have just bought an " HTC RE " Camera to use as a normal video /camera , But we now use it in the car when we go out as a dash cam. I strap it ( well , elastic band it ) to my phone holder, and run it through either of our smartphones..The video and stills clarity are brilliant ..and downloads to our phones.. you can also charge it from the cigar lighter via a usb lead...........OK it is not cheap, at around £100. But we picked ours up from a well know auction site for £50..........highly recommended

Dash cams have become ubiquitous among daily driver tools. Increasing distractions and decreasing attention spans have made for dangerous, traffic-laden commutes. Thankfully, dash cams help provide irrefutable proof of fault in the event of an accident, and, while we don’t have quite as many insurance fraud cases here in the United States as abroad, rest assured that a proper car dash camera can shut those cons down, too.

Dashboard cameras that record both to the front and to the rear (also called dual-channel or dual-lens dash cams) have seen a big increase in quality over the last year or so. We’re especially happy to note that finally, and for the first time ever, all of the cameras on this best-of list record 1920×1080 video both ways.
