They're just putting up our Christmas lights in Main Street but as it's all down by volunteers so we don't get them until end first week December, which suits me fine. As others have said, too early and it loses its magic.

I quite like the traditional Christian way, Advent is for preparation, then you have Christmas and celebrate.
Now, you have all the prep, plus the celebrations, before Christmas Day. Then on Boxing Day it's all over.
When I worked in a High St store, we had Christmas stock out in October, decs went up early Nov, and we took them down before Christmas. First day back, the sales boards went up.
