Hi all
Please help any advice so greatly appreciated.I've had nothing but trouble with all windows, back ones have never worked. Passenger side packed in about 7months ago, and drivers side died off about 2 months ago. That was until 5 days ago window went down but wouldn't come back up so had a lovely shower curtain as its replacement until this morning as a part from eBay arrived its called a temic window module.
As my husband was in work I thought why not surprise him and fix it myself, and partly because I have the patience of a knat! Lol
It was so easy to do and I was so happy that it started working instantly, thought I sorted our window Misery problems.. Took the car out shopping earlier as I didn't have to worry about it being stolen, got home tested the window and its not working yet again. So angry I could cry.
Many thanks for any advice

Cheap Chinese non oem parts bought off ebay are seldom any good. If fitting is easy diy then get your money back off ebay supplier & buy the oe part from Renault garage parts dept. If that don't work then best option would be to pay Renault garage for diagnostic check.

Thankyou opensauce,
The part I bought of eBay is UK made and is of really good quality, at £35 for a switch the size of a matchbox and i need another 3 I don't think was cheap lol but a lot cheaper than around £500 that apparently this costs from Renault.
I think the diagnostic test you suggested maybe my only option. Thanks again 👍

There are plenty of ebay parts that are basically 'reconditioned', ie just secondhand parts cleaned up. Good example, oe Valeo egr valve £200odd from reputable supplier or main dealer, same Valeo egr valve on ebay £80, this will be secondhand unit cleaned up or fake Chinese made so may last 100miles.

Switch will probably be made by Bosch or Hella so will be cheaper from proper supplier but £35 from from ebay & £500 from main stealer, I would say both are an equal ripoff as you have found out.

If the switch worked ok & then stopped then probably all you need is a genuine new switch from a reputable supplier.

I buy off eBay on a very regular basis I've got to be honest 9/10 item is exactly as described, but I also have been stung by a cheap and nasty item ouch!
This website seems genuine I even spoke to the gentlemen before I bought it.I'll paste it now, tell me what you think. Thanks again by the way.

Phathamster
Thanks for your reply, its definitely not the switches as the locking device on the switch has always remained faithful plus I have like two other sets of switches as my dad has a scrapyard. Bless him he always does the jobs that mine and my sisters cars needs doing, but this problem to me is like a bad itch you can't scratch.(I will not be beaten lol).

We had a problem with our windows in the car it turned out to be a break in the wire in the door stay. if that helps.

common known fault with Scenics....When we had ours every damn electric window actuator failed...Was about £150 a time to get them replaced....In the end I took them out the rear windows as I never used them.

Have you tried the Renault owners forum?

I had exactly the same with my Scenic, I found the advice on the Renault Owners Forum to be very good, especially the links to how to replace the window regulators (which we bought on Ebay). All 4 of mine went at some point, and it was always miserable weather when it happened, typical. Mine was a 04 plate and it was a very common fault.

Just to add.....If your electric dashboard goes dim (or even fails completely) that's a known fault too....Renault asked for £300 to replace mine until I pointed out that if was a known prob and they then dropped the price to £90

As above the Renault forums are excellent for advice and tips on these damn French cars. Best thing I did was sell it.

Graham, I love the comment 'Best thing I did was sell it', made me chuckle. I loved the driving position of my Scenic and it was a great car for the school run, but my husband (who does all the car maintenance) wasn't so keen as he was the one always on the forum trying to fix it!
