This was the first weekend in 13 years we didn't have Mack with us and we've missed him terribly.

Get another dog...../
You will be amazed how soon they become part of your life.
You never forget the lost one ,but,the new one needs so much love and attention especially if a stray or a puppy.

Thanks. I've done nothing but cry my eyes out all week. This weekend I started avoiding people as I don't want to pass on my misery to folk away for a break! We don't want another dog, couldn't do this again.

Such a sad time so sorry for your loss I still miss my 2 beautiful Dalmations every day, we have a replacement now his lovley but he cant replace my girls

Thanks again everyone. I'm still struggling with it all. I really can't imagine feeling the same about another dog again. Mack was such a character, especially in his hey day. He was fearless and used to give us some heart-stopping moments with his antics - his speciality being jumping into any stretch of water from any height! We have Mack's ashes now and will be scattering them soon - I don't want to hang around as he was such an outdoor dog I want him running free.

You won't feel the same about another dog. Another dog would be different, with a different personality and his/her own unique characteristics, but without realising it you would grow to love it just as much as you loved Mack though in a different way.

When I lost my first little JRT back in 1999 I was completely heartbroken - nothing could ever have taken her place (or so I thought) then along came Sugar, another little JRT but in many ways totally different to Skippy. It was only when I lost her to liver failure just over twelve months ago that I realised just how much I'd grown to love her over the sixteen years she was here. I was heartbroken all over again, as I know I will be when I lose either of my two current JRTs, but I would never let that stop me from having and loving another dog.
