i have these on the car and the motorbike, but not the caravan. i was also involved in setup of a few of these on local blood bikes
they are notoriously variable in the set up, i.e. 98% of them are clones and are programmed differently or with different functions. so you can't just look them up on the internet as you wont know which one you have.
e.g. i sourced one from one dealer that would not go to sleep and the battery went in about 3 hours. That one hit the bin after 10 hours of faffing
on the ones that i have now they cost me £10 each, and have a different power plug on them than the genuine ones that are around £60, and they go to sleep when the vehicles are not in motion. This will be your most important function as without this then the battery will die within a day or so, or within a couple of hours if its is no good. so you need to check with the sellers on e of bay if that is where you are sourcing them.
basically if you want these, they are very cheap to source, very cheap to run, but you gamble with your supplier, and it will likely take you a few hours to set them up with a lot of trial and error. You can of course find several UK suppliers that will do this for you for a fee.
I actually run 2, as a say on car and bike which are used daily and i haven't touched them for months, and can monitor them on http://www.gps-trace.com. They cost me no more than 20p per month to run with daily use. And if they don't move then they cost me nothing! The catch of course is that the wife and kids know where I am all the time
