Sometimes you can join through one of the big clubs and gain a discount of some kind or a free gift, usually something camping related, picnic wear, cool bag, ect.
They also do extended offers at times, 15 months for the price of 12, or a free site night voucher on joining, or festive mini hamper for memberships bought as Christmas gifts.
We used to be members but have now given up due to the hike in prices every season and the fact that we felt we had seen most of what we wanted to see, and a lot of the properties were not very wheelchair friendly due to their grade 1 or 2 status.

You can save some money by joining the Scottish National Trust.
Because there are fewer sites in Scotland the subscription is lower. However the membership has a reciprocal agreement with the National Trust for entry into properties.
Every little helps

... but I seem to remember reading somewhere that NTS membership doesn't cover NT (England and Wales) car parks?

Voucher codes currently have a code to get family membership for about £67 which is quite a saving.

I saw NT offering 25% off on fb yesterday, but didnt take too much notice as we are members already, so might be worth taking a look on their page. We pay ours monthly by direct debit at about £7-80 a month I think, so hardly notice it going out of the bank a/c> Its well worth joining.

You used to be able to join the Scottish national trust, which was cheaper at £48 for a single adult. You then get access to the english national trust properties. I dont know if you can still do this with a english post code. We have just had our annual NT renewal taken from the bank, I must admit its starting to get s little steep price wise. Our joint membership is now over £100. I think I will cancel next year and see if we can join the Scottish NT

I don't think it's that expensive for what you get, tbh. We always find that what we would have paid in entry fees is far more than we paid for our joint membership. This year we've already been to 5 properties, one of them twice, and most of them now are about £7-8 each to get in.
I love the fact that we can treat the lovely NT gardens almost like parks, and pop in whenever we feel like it.
