Without going into detail, a family member of mine has been in severe difficulties for the past 2 months after suffering from what appears to be phrenic nerve compression caused by a prolapsed disc in his neck. This has caused severe breathing difficulties and paralysis of the lower diaphragm, evident when lying flat or even leaning back in a chair.
Problem has been diagnosed by a respiratory specialist consultant, but spinal surgeons disagree.
We think problem was initially caused by chiropractic manipulation when being treated for severe neck/shoulder pain.
Question is - has anyone had similar experiences? From what I can see, it would seem to be a rare complication which is why the spinal surgeons are questioning the diagnosis.
