Can anyone help got a creda condenser dryer. It gets hot. But clothes are getting steamed and not drying there is a noise coming from the vent area at the front. Any one had this problem and can point me in right direction to fix it. Hubby is good at fixing stuff never done dryer before.

Have you checked whether it is one of those that were recalled by Creda last year due to a fire risk?

The only thing I can think of, and you may well have already tried this, check that the filters are clear and free of fluff.

Sorry if this sounds patronising but you are emptying the water container aren't you? Otherwise it sounds like a blockage somewhere.

I had this problem once and called the engineer out. When he pulled the bottom filter out there was a bit of water behind it, so in future when I cleaned the bottom filter I would always put some kitchen roll in and see if there was any water at the back. (There was a dip that it used to sit in).
I must admit we were quite lucky as ours was one of the dryers recalled and even though it was nearly 9 years old we were able to buy a brand new condenser dryer for £99 instead of waiting for them to come and fix it. It's the best thing we ever did, the new one is so much more efficient.
Another idea, you are not putting too much in so its not tumbling properly.

We've had one.

And we had a similar problem when we had ours, but we were able to couple the drain tank to an external drain via the bung on the rear of the dryer.

So with yours, I think it may be a blockage 'somewhere'...

I was thinking it may be on the removable condenser / air exchange 'thingy'.

That (to us on ours), looked clean, but taking it into the garden a blasting it through with a garden hose said other wise.

We found on ours, all pipes and drains looked clean - but weren't....

If you can though, get rid and get a vented dryer....

It doesn't sound like the same problem that is causing the issues with tumble dryers which are currently in the media. Easy enough to check though just go to the Hotpoint/Creda website and enter the model number as you may need a modification or even qualify for a reduced price exchange.

Condenser dryers are fine but need regular maintenance (as do vented dryers and all other white goods!). Need to regularly check/clean the condenser unit, empty fluff filter after each use and empty water box or check drain hose is not squashed/kinked. But as you say you have checked those probably not the cause!

I had the same problem where the drum wasn't turning & clothes just got steamy, also a Creda. It was the belt. Other half (rabbitboy) fixed it for about £10

I got a condenser dryer based on the recommendations of folks on here and thank you - when Mum was alive, it was such a Godsend. Thank you for posting the details of the Creda recall - my machine is not the one involved in the recall.
But I won't get another one - dog with very fine hair constantly moulting and me with long, fine hair and I have to clean the condenser, not just the water tank and filter, after two uses, not the 30 manufacturers' recommend.
