His revised premium was just £50 for an additional 5000 miles. As an experienced driver, when my Mum got ill and my mileage had to go up considerably, I contacted my insurer's and had no problem upping the mileage and no additional premium to pay.

The original policy was priced at £200 for every 1000 miles driven. The 'excess' charge is priced at £166 for every additional 1000 miles so actually works out cheaper than the original policy!
