I usually turn to you guys when I've a prob so this is the latest bit of modern technology that I can't get to grips with.
Bought a little Sony camera , cyber shot 810w , had it about 18 months but only just taken it out of the box.
What I want to know is how the heck do I download the piccies from the camera to lappy running windows 10.
With my old Kodak as soon as I plugged it in to the computer it came up on the screen asking me where where I wanted to put them and the options of what prog I wanted to use to put them there.
Nothing happens when I hook the sony up wth lead to usb port. It needs something to galvanise it into action. There was no installation disc with the camera and no handbook. just a leaflet with instructions to take a photo. They recommend a download to enable you to work allsorts of magic with the pics once in the computer but not how to get them there. I've been trawling the Sony website to no avail. I know I can rely on you guys to come up with some answers.
Apologies for not being very active on the forum of late.
The fact is I.ve had to sell my caravan due to a severe stroke just over a year ago consequently was unable to drive for 6 months and will shortly be turning in my licence altogether. However, I still keeping up to date with what's happening and continue to visit the website on a regular basis...........Mick

Hey Mick
Glad to hear you're on the mend, tho' it's meant packing in the driving and towing malarkey.
Sony does some good cameras. Your Kodak may have come with their own bit of software to automate the copy-off routine. The new one might not, or give you a link to a Sony site to download their version. My Nikons have one, but I never bother with it. Once I take the cards out of the cameras and put them in my W7 laptop, Windows pops up an options list, including view files.
I choose that, select them all, and copy them to My Pics folder. I do all the sorting, editing etc on the computer.
Doesn't W10 do something similar?
BTW, when you first connected the camera by USB lead, did you see it instal itself?

My advice is worth no more than the price paid for it

MickeyB, do you have a SD Card in the camera or is it just using internal memory?
If you have a laptop you may have a SD slot there. Remove the SD card from the card and insert it into the laptop.
Hope this helps.

Hi folks, I knew I could rely on you good people. I've now got to grips with it and by following advice have discovered the pics were transferring to the computer all the time, I was obviously looking in the wrong place. Have now found them and can drag and drop into 'my pics' where I want them. All ready now for my 80th birthday party in a couple of weeks. Thanks again everyone who posted.......Mick
