When I used to go to America on business, I would hire a Ford Mustang. They were more flashy that stylish, but fun to drive.....
There's a saying amongst the locals in Tuscon, california, texas "How do you spot a tourist? They're the ones in the mustangs"
but it's what we'll be hiring when we go there in 2018/19 (unless trump gets in when we'll go to France again that year instead)

Because it is no bigger than a small family car and eats up camping equipment, my Skoda Roomster Scout. Rear seats have 3 positions, or come out, or tip up, all independently, huge boot space, roof rails, higher off the ground than the non-scout model, so easier for those rutted tracks on 'wild' campsites.

Our car history (running 2 cars since the 1st Jazz)
X reg Nissan Micra
T reg Toyota Yaris
2003 Toyota Corolla
2002 Honda Jazz
2008 Honda FRV
2009 Toyota Prius
2008 Honda Jazz
2009 Honda FRV
2013 Honda CRV
Most fun? Sadly they were all more practical than fun!
Most practical -The CRV (still with us).
Best overall -The Prius (still with us as others have come and gone - so reliable and cheap to own).
Favourite? I've a soft spot for the quirky FRV's.
Next buy? Not sure - but it will be electric.
