In reply to Suzie2poos.
We always used to get our Springers from a charity in Lincolnshire that has since closed their doors.
My Buzzy-Beans (who is actually sat on my knee as I am typing this) we actually rescued by surfing through all the hundreds of adverts to be found on the Gumtree website, we were very lucky indeed as he is the business!!
We support several Springer specialists but the two that are possibly best are http://spanielaid.co.uk/ and http://www.essw.co.uk/
Our experience over the past 25 years of adopting is to make yourself known to them, get involved, arrange for one of their team to make a home visit to your house so that they know yours is a safe house and that more importantly, you are a suitable person to adopt one of their dogs.
Several of our dogs we have loved and who are so very sadly no longer with us are those that the rescues didn't want to re-home as they had lost all faith in humans as they had been so badly treated. But because we were persistent and because they knew us so very well, they relented in each case and we were so fortunate to be able to give them a safe secure home throughout the remainder of their lives.
Don't give up Suzie, there is a faithful loving four legged friend out there waiting to lick you to death!!
Good luck
------------- There is a great World to be found out there, but by the very day, to find where it is becomes more of a challenge!
Thank you Bussy Beans, I have been following Spaniel Aid and I'm probably exaggerating but it seems like the majority of their dogs end up staying with their foster carers so I've become disillusioned with them to be honest. I'll have a look at essw - thank you for the tip, I won't give up!
A lady along the road from me has just got a sprocker puppy. I met her today, she is 14 weeks old and a little silky bag of wriggling, wagging, wonderful puppy-ness!
