My postie insisted that I put a post box on my front gate because he was frightened of my dog which was occasionally in the garden on his arrival. When I refused, the post office suspended my mail so I had no choice. I don't like the idea for the reasons stated in the link above.
I now do everything I can possibly do online and have cancelled all paper billing including letters from the bank so my mail consists mainly of the odd catalogue or a few things I buy online. I normally see the postman when he arrives and grab the mail as soon as it is placed in the box. If I am out and the postie sees my car missing he knows the dog will be indoors so posts any important looking mail or packages through the door. At least he is helpful in that respect but the mail can still be vulnerable at times.
Surely it would be easy enough if a rogue post box was found attached to a house, or tape across the letter box etc; to lie in wait for the offenders to return and grab them? At least, that's what I would do.
