The secret is to find a recipe and stick to it EXACTLY each time including the water temperature which we find the most important of all, it doesn't take much longer to use and thermometer,, enjoy your bread

Sadly my local corner store has now closed they sold a loaf called Happy Bread for £1 - not only did it last a good few days, it was the right size for my toaster.

I have always complained that bakers don't make bread the right size for toasters...or toasters are too small depending which way you prefer it. I then found the Breville toaster and all bread fits in it and gets toasted perfectly. A little on the expensive side but a nice toaster.

Bread that is made to last is full of nasty preservatives. (plastic bread).

Buy a bread maker and make your own. You will know exactly what is in it and you can have it when you want.

There is a very good reason why the French laws dictate that everyone should be with 5k of a bakery, if not it will be delivered.

6 yrs ago I had a bowel cancer scare, part of the investigation was to go through a series of elimination, for which I was placed on a 'gluten free' diet. Its is alarming how many preservatives there are in food to extend its shelf life. All well and good if you live in the arctic or on a remote island, but for every day living and health reasons know what is in your food and control it.

Mull is not far from the mainland so I imagine produce is plentiful.
