Sadly my local corner store has now closed they sold a loaf called Happy Bread for £1 - not only did it last a good few days, it was the right size for my toaster.

Bread that is made to last is full of nasty preservatives. (plastic bread).
Buy a bread maker and make your own. You will know exactly what is in it and you can have it when you want.
There is a very good reason why the French laws dictate that everyone should be with 5k of a bakery, if not it will be delivered.
6 yrs ago I had a bowel cancer scare, part of the investigation was to go through a series of elimination, for which I was placed on a 'gluten free' diet. Its is alarming how many preservatives there are in food to extend its shelf life. All well and good if you live in the arctic or on a remote island, but for every day living and health reasons know what is in your food and control it.
Mull is not far from the mainland so I imagine produce is plentiful.
