Just a quick heads up to anyone going to Great Yarmouth. If you park anything other than a car in the car parks, you will get a parking ticket. We have a short wheel based Transit campervan which is converted for disabled use and is our only vehicle. It fitted well within the parking bay in the Fullers Hill car park which was half empty in the middle of the day on Wednesday. We checked for parking restrictions on the ticket machine but nothing was immediately obvious. We paid particular attention to this as on a previous visit we had received a ticket for having the front wheel just touching the inside white line in our bay. We paid for our ticket to park and on our return a couple of hours later we had received a parking fine because "Motorhomes and Campervans aren't permitted". I appealed against the ticket but they rejected it so I have asked for information as to where motorhomes and campervans with disabled drivers are supposed to park and still have access to the town. I have also suggested they might like to make their signage clearer and include the information on the Parking section of their website. However, I don't think we will be able to return to Great Yarmouth as it appears there will be nowhere for us to park.

If, as you say, there was not a notice displaying the regulations I do not see how they can issue penalties.

Ramp it up to the next appeal stage.

I still wouldn't pay it on the grounds that there is no evidence to state what the exclusions are. However, you need to take a photograph of the dislpay sign for evidence in support of your appeal just in case the council does decide to take action but even if they do they are not always right you know. Some car parking wardens who issue these parking tickets very often get away with it because many driver's don't want to engage in having to prove their innocence and perhaps go to a court hearing so just pay the fine instead to save any future panic.
Don't become just another gullible paying motorist. If you are absolutely confident you have not parked illegally then take the matter further as they have nothing better to do than just try and score a few brownie points especially if they are having a bad day.

If you have a disabled badge, then you can park on single yellow lines in the town centre without penalty and stuff their parking wardens

It's possible the carpark has recently erected signs stating campervans/motorhomes not permitted. They have done this in Clacton along seafront to prevent overnight parking but it also prevents campervan owners from parking daytimes as well.

The carpark enforcement is done by a separate company. The best advice for op is to phone Great Yarmouth Borough Council parking dept for clarification on the matter. They will have the power to rescind ticket if issued in error.

I hope you can get this sorted out because parking is becoming a joke. Opensauce is quite correct about approaching the Council. If the signs about motor-homes and camper vans were not clearly visible at the time you parked up, you should have a case. I can't comment on the disabled badge as the law is different in Scotland.

As an example of how you can get a local authority on your side: I got really fed up when caught for a fine for going into a small Council car park in a certain central valley town to turn round as I realised I was heading the wrong way, having been diverted but no diversion signs to follow up. They had cameras and despite the fact I just drove round and didn't stop, I got done for not paying. My son's friend lives not too far from the town in question and shops there so he checked the car park - no signs. Appealed on two counts: nothing to advise the motorist that by entering the car park you have to pay before you go in and, secondly, that I wouldn't have been in the car park at all to turn round if the Council had properly signed the diversion. They did at least say they'd do a phone interview as to come down from Mull was going to cost me over £200 in fares, fuel and accommodation and they rang me (thank heavens). After nearly an hour of debate, fine waived. Letter followed to confirm.

Not sure if it is any use to the OP depending on the nature of the disability but there is on street parking available in parts of Great Yarmouth if you are able and willing to walk a bit to the town.
