I would love to read how the holidays could be staggerred to ensure all pupils cover the whole curriculum in the time required. If this can be done, the person who invents the timetable computer program will make a fortune.
The reason why kids struggle to fit everything in now is because there is no flexibility. Both kids and teachers are trying to fit everything into a short period of term time between fixed holiday periods. The reason why kids are being churned out unable to spell, add up without the aid of a calculator, or string a sentence together is because they seem to spend more time on holiday than at school learning.
Get rid of 'terms' and work the whole year the same as everyone else but with flexible holidays, and as I said earlier, no reason why they can't work weekends if they need to catch up and that goes for the teachers as well. I have never understood why schools and teachers cram everything into short periods and then have 5,6 or 7 weeks off all in one go in the summer.

Teachers would never go for that!
Well you would think they would prefer to go on holiday when there aren't hoards of kids around
I think you're just trying to justify playing the wag in your own schooldays, Bob, when you should have been in class learning the difference between "hoards" and "hordes"!
Wow Now you are hitting berlow the belt! But the question of timetabling has still not been tackled. I wish it had been so easy. I would have had a cushy job but there you go.... everyone knows better

I only got as far as 3 letter words when I was at school but I thought a 'mob' of kids sounded a bit harsh.
