My neighbour and her husband set off for the 3 hr drive to Manchester Airport last week,to catch their flight to to Corfu. They had booked into a hotel for an early flight next morning. I saw my neighbours husband back at the house, he had forgotten to put her case in the car, so had to come back home for it.
This afternoon another neighbour told me that her sister and her husband had just flown Newcastle to Heathrow then to Canada for a cruise up to Alaska then return by train culminating with a week in Montreal.When they arrived at Newcastle Airport she realised she had forgotten her suitcase, and had to continue without it.

Is it common for people to forget a suitcase?
There were only two people with a case each, unbelievable!!

Last week a friend posted on facebook that he'd gone camping and forgotten his sleeping bag.

A couple of hours later in an updated post he said it wasn't too bad as his mate had forgotten his tent!

Why not split the packing so if anything happens (lost/forgotten case) you both still have some clothes etc

Great idea

Back in the 80s hubby and I went on a coach holiday and during a change of coaches at a service station hubby's case got missed by the driver. We only knew about it when we reached our destination so the first thing we had to do was go and get hubby a load of new clothes and toiletries etc. We finally got the case back when we got home,it had been travelling round for two weeks in the hold of a Robinson's coach. After that I always split the packing so we each had half our stuff in each case, though fortunately it's never happened since.

We once drove form Worcester to Poole to catch the ferry to our holiday to realise that we'd left the Passports on the kitchen worktop!!

I had got 10 miles down the road towards my niece's wedding when I said to my husband "You did put the present in the boot, didn't you?" (My job was to pack the cases for the 4 of us, his to pack the car, and the present was in the middle of the dining room table).

"What present?" he replied.

We were going to a wedding, what other present would it be?

A few years ago I had a small tent with a loose groundsheet in the living area. On arriving at the campsite and unpacking the tent I couldn't find the groundsheet anywhere. I just couldn't understand where it could be as it should have been in the tent bag with everything else.

I set the tent up and fitted the bedroom pod and resigned myself with some annoyance to spending the next few days with just grass in the living area.

After several hours and on walking inside the bedroom pod I realised that the bedroom pod groundsheet felt extra thick in places. On investigation there was my living room groundsheet. It had stuck itself to the bottom of the bedroom pod groundsheet.

I hate losing things and especially when I can't account for how it can possibly have gone missing so it was a bit like winning the lottery at that stage and saved me from a miserable few days worrying about it.

I forgot the wifes suitcase 10 miles into a 150 mile trip. Obviously we went back for it. The thought of her having to 'replace' everything at the other end didnt bear thinking about.

We were once asked in a French airport, whose case belongs to whom, we'd split the packing, in case of loss, they were not happy, picked one case and asked us to name what was in it.... I think they were bored
