I have a female JRT called Bob - you will either understand immediately, or continue to look at me like I'm insane if I try to explain why my female dog has a boy's name (if I had another, it would be a female called Bernard)!!
My parents had a border collie called Deefa
Blackadder?
My nickname at school was Bob (real name Kate)
My dad wanted to call our Border Collie Baldrick many years ago but he was out-voted. My JRT cross is Pixie, named after my favourite band
Blackadder is spot-on! In fact, my Dad used to call her Kate!
I have a Jack Russell/Chihuahua cross called "Moo" (Because she's cow print)
Very poorly named, it turns out. You don't half get some funny looks when she takes off and you're left shouting "Moo!!" with increasing heat in the middle of an empty field...!

First dog (springer X red setter, rescue)- Lady, because she sat with her nose stuck up in the air.
Second dog (springer pup) - Rosie, because she answered to it when we were out in the garden when the roses were flowering. Then discovered that almost every Springer bitch we met was -ie or -y (Rosie, Lucy, Molly, Poppy...).
Third dog (working cocker, rescue) - Chloe, because that's the name she came with & she answers to it.... unless there are birds to hunt in which case she goes deaf.
