Geoff, good luck with the op and as moppetsdad says they pump you full of gas, one of the side affects of this for me was sore shoulder and neck muscles for a week, that wasn't explained to me at the hospital and I couldn't understand what was causing it. I hope you get your op before Christmas, I had to wait 9 months from diagnosis to operation and that was pre covid.
all the best.
Alan.
Update... Had op on fri 9th and home sun eve this was mainly due to waiting for meds although I had constipation which I have to say was more uncomfortable than the pain from the op. Having catheter out this friday, so I guess thats when the fun starts with incontenence issues. TBH having the catheter in is a real godsend as it stops all that getting up every couple of hrs for a wee. Along with some tablets I have to inject myself for the next 28 days with anti blood clot stuff. Doing the jab is suprisingly simple and almost painless. Got some nice big bruises but overall with pain killers I dont feel too bad. I will report back once I am home from catheter removal.
Update: Back from hosp and catheter out.Small amount of leakage but the 5 weeks of pelvic floor excersizes must have helped and carry on with them now. Stitches healing fine. All in all feeling good. Go back in 7 weeks for results and hope they got it all.PSA test a week before to check.
Final update....Follow up appt with consultant last Fri and all looks good. PSA. 0.1 so undetectable. Stage 2 cancer found in prostate but she is confident it has not spread. Life without a prostate Is far better than I could have hoped for. Very little leakage from the start and I am now dry although I still wear a pad just to be on the safe side. Downside...At almost 68 it looks like my love life is over as cant get an erection but thats not a problem for us. For guys that this would be a problem for she told me there are things they can do. I am just grateful I am still here to tell the tale. Looking at holidays now and just got to have PSA tests every 3 months to check all is well. Side note.....Also 5 yrs ago I had bladder cancer which was found after weeing blood ONCE that was treated and I have been clear of that for almost 5 yrs now. Final check for that in July and if its still clear no more tests on that. So it looks like a good outcome for me so far. Thanks Jeff for starting this thread and all you chaps that contributed it was a great help. Happy New Year.
Thanks John yes I'm fine apart from cranky old knees which I'm hoping to get fixed asp but not holding ny breath My PSA has been 0.1 ever since my opp and long my it continue and I'm glad your is as well
