Tracking is always a good place to start after pressures, you will probably notice it handles better now as well, glad you got it sorted
You're absolutely right moppetsdad, I did notice a difference in the way the car handles straight after as I left the Kwik-Fit premises. The fitter advised that all vehicles should have the tracking checked about every 4 months merely because the speed bumps can contribute to vehicle damage as much as to what deep pot holes can. In the past, drivers had the problem of just trying to avoid the pot holes but since speed bumps have been introduced it has made the poor road surface even a greater risk of suspension and tyre related issues.
Thanks for your reply.

May be its time to buy decent tyres try a set of Michelin and get the tracking done at the same time. Cheap tyres are false economy.
I wouldn't exactly consider Avon as being cheap branded tyres as they are in the same league as Michelin, Pirelli, Bridgestone and Dunlop to name a few so in my view it's not false economy by far.
I think you really need to do some research on car tyres and get your facts right before stating that it's time to buy decent tyres.
Set of Avons lasted as well as the first set of Michelins on my car & unlike the Mich did not crack in the treads. Good price ordering online from Tyreshopper for fitting at nearest National Tyres depot.

Why did they want to sell you cheap tyres if you wanted more expensive ones? You went to a garage & said fit premium tyres to my car & the garage said these premium tyres are not for your old banger. Rather than sell you 4 premium tyres for £400 odd we would prefer to sell you 4 budget tyres for £200?
Can you explain please because I’m having difficulty in understanding your post.
Sorry, Opensauce, I was gobsmacked when the guy said this to me. Turns out he was of the opinion I should get rid of the car (he had a "good, reasonably priced one for sale") and he'd have to get the tyre from someone other than his usual stockist (so lost his discount from them). He was also, I regret to say, one of those gentlemen who don't like women being the slightest bit knowledgeable about cars or what they want.
