after a certain age or those with a underling medical condition we can get free flu jabs, I've had the flue but it wasn't as bad as my daughters, same symptoms, you think its over but it comes back with a vengeance

Paul B if it has passed to a female member of your household you have clearly had Flu, not ManFlu which is a much nastier condition. Hope you get better soon
In my experience, the threat of a big needle often has a miraculous effect on ManFlu.
You could, of course, be extra sympathetic and buy him a ManFlu is real T-Shirt just to confirm how seriously you are taking his symptoms.

He's in the over 40 age group. Why? Does his age have a bearing on the severity of the Man Flu?
Well in a matter of speaking yes it does. We can only guess the age of the person you are referring to until we know the facts but the reason I asked is because the NHS will treat the flu far more seriously if he was in his seventies or older because of having a weaker immune system to fight off Influenza.
Take great care with flu. About 6 years ago I got it at around this time of year and it turned into Pneumonia. I have never felt so ill in all my life. For the first time ever I actually started to wonder if I was going to survive. I was seriously ill for 6 weeks, and not really over it for at least another 3 weeks. I was 62 at the time, and now at 68 I still have chest problems that I never had before.
I now have annual flu-jabs, and I have had a pneumonia jab too, but that's a one-off.

It's here in my house. Husband has got it, I'm really worried. He's lost the use of his legs as well. I just hope he manages to pull through!
There was a Canadian expert just recently that said Man Flu is real and only affects men.
The best thing for it is bed or sofa rest with lots of drinks and nice food .. something to watch like a TV but without having to respond to questions or any disagreements or housework. 😁
He wants to try a course of radio and chemotherapy for head and neck cancer then he will know what it is like to feel ill.
On second thoughts I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Try and sweat it out of him with copious amounts of his favorite beer.Feed a Virus starve a cold so keep him topped up with crisps, peanuts and other assorted nibbles and most importantly give him the TV remote!
Nothing to do with flu as it turns out, but my friend had a nasty stubborn throat lurgy recently... she tried to soldier on, but after a week or so she was hospitalised suffering from sepsis. Very nasty business; she's still in hospital, 13 days now and not strong enough to go home yet. Always worth getting things checked out if symptoms persist and temperature is high.
