I did the same Bob61. I couldn't remember what dates for what loan and how much. Let someone do it for me and received 3 very nice cheques thank you very much. Not bothered I had to pay them as I know I wouldn't have done it myself.

I could get lucky then...even a tenner is a tenner more than I have now

You may find they take up to 40% of any payments, the bank know and have all your details why pay someone else.
The PPI company I am in contact with charges 25% and I don't even have to get off my backside. I am not greedy. If they do all the work I don't mind giving them their share.
Why pay a window cleaner if you can clean the windows yourself...because it saves you having to bother...simples
Could you tel me the company you are using and have you had any joy off them yet??
Try the website moneysaving expert dot com. It's Martin Lewis who is often on the television and radio. He gives very good advice on mis sold PPI and also what to do if you can't remember the company.

I intend to ask a PPI company to look into my finances going back about 30 years or so but keep forgetting to fill the forms in. I really must give it a go...one never knows one's luck. I suppose I could contact the banks myself but it would be easy for them now to say they have never heard of me whereas a PPI company knows all the tricks and I don't mind if they earn a few bob if they get me a few bob too
Bob nooooo please do it yourself, it's so easy, ive had 3 ppi payments done now use this tool, Its right at the bottom of the thread, does it all for you

My problem is that due to circumstances I won't go into here, I seem to have spent my entire life on credit of one sort or another until I retired and was able to pay it all off.
I have had several different credit cards and bank loans from various banks, sometimes more than once over the years but don't ever recall having PPI. In fact I do recall being offered it on a couple of occasions and turning it down. The only thing I know I had some sort of insurance on was a mortgage back in 1988 and I don't even know if that was PPI.
It would be very time consuming and probably frustrating trying to contact all the different credit companies and trying to give them information which I no longer have anyway. I burnt all my old paperwork when I retired as I didn't think I would need any of it again.
All I had to do with the PPI claims company was tell them who I thought I had loans with and where I may have been living at the time and they do the rest. I don't have to get into any arguments with loan companies or fill in any of their forms requesting 'further information' etc; as the PPI company will now deal with all that and they know that I cannot give them any further info.
I am not expecting to get anything but if they do manage to come up with a couple of quid, then it's a couple of quid more than I have now and the PPI company will be welcome to their share...and all I have to do is sit here and hope they come up with a few million
I did the same Bob, couldn't remember when, where, how much how many. So I let them do all the work for me. Had three payouts altogether and the PPI claims people took 25%.

I am not expecting anything but kept hearing about people like yourself who have received payouts that I thought I would give it a go. I was always quite wary when obtaining loans and credit cards so I don't think I would have accepted an extra premium for PPI...I certainly didn't need insurance as I was in a secure job so unless they charged me without me realising I doubt the PPI claims company will find anything. I am keeping my fingers crossed though and if they do, they will be welcome to 25%
