Your right another 365 days training, another £400 entrance fee (no refunds being given)

Why should they be given a refund? If the event was cancelled completely then yes, they would have every right to ask for, and get, a refund, but it's still going ahead so it's up to the individual whether he/she takes part or not. If they don't then that's their own personal choice, no-one is forcing them to not take part so if they don't get a refund then tough!
tigermouse its a famous endurance race with bragging rights to anyone that completes it, if its shortened then its not the complete package, just like you aint done a marathon until you run 26 miles, lands end to john o groats would'nt be the same if you stopped at St ives, If they cant extend the bike ride they should give them the option to transfer to next year free of charge

To be honest I don't know why they are so annoyed, you'd think they'd be glad to have 17 miles cut off the cycling stage, at least they won't have to go so far. But then their attitude is just typical of a lot of selfish bar stewards who think a stupid fitness competition is more important than the destruction of several square miles of land and the probable loss of various forms of wildlife and their habitat!
Destruction of land!......Loss of wildlife and habitat!
I am sorry, but you don’t know what your talking about. These areas of land will be back before you know it, and better. Yes of course some wildlife will suffer in the very short time, but nature is a wonderful thing and it will be back to a better habitat very soon.
Don’t get me wrong, whoever is responsible should be given a torrid time, don’t even ask me what I would do! 😡😡
We control burn every year here on Dartmoor, I have done it myself, it controls the Bracken and Gorse, and is an essential part of Moorland management.
We had a huge wildfire, a few years ago, on an area called Trendlebere. It was back, looking better and providing a far better and more diverse habitat in no time.
