Due to back problems I recently became interested in recumbents (trikes rather than bikes). In the process I stumbled upon some blogs about cycling trips all over Europe (mostly camping of course). Some interesting stories and nice photos even for those who prefer to stick with the "upright" diamond frame I suppose.

1. This one is in French but with Google Translate in Chrome it is a pleasant read:

and a few in English:

3. Auxerre to Agen

I always quite like the idea of a recumbent but it's a lot of money to lay out if you don't get on with it.

It must be nice cycling along with your face at the level of the exhaust pipe of cars.

Absolutely. I am hoping to try some next year but if I decide to buy one it would either be second hand or if new then probably a cheaper brand like Performer. The fact that I would want a full suspension does not help either but there are some rumors that Performer is working on fs model.

There is no denying that pollution is a problem. I walk to work and a short part of my journey is along a busy, stinky road. But I don't think I am less affected walking or cycling on df anyway. Besides my cycling would mostly be recreational so I can choose time and route. There are lots of quiet, country roads - very quiet on Sunday mornings when I tend to cycle. Of course recumbents are not for everyone but they look like fun to me.
