The Irish Lottery is a lot cheaper with a lot more chance of winning smaller amounts. My son has had several wins over £300 but doesn't do 6 numbers.

Of course they do RogLozLee, after all the retailer is providing the premises, staff and service, I would imagine that the retailer gets around 25% kick back.

The vendor gets 5% on ticket sales,6% on scratch card sales and 1% of any prizes paid out in the vendors property.
A lot of vendors are threatening to send their machines back as they don't think it is worth the hassle.

Yes saxo1, but you have to add to that the commercial bung, that the big retailers get, like Tesco, ASDA and alike, the marketing budget that Camelot has at it's disposal is serious money, just to have a FSDU in the likes of Tesco would take around £100k of budget, that's partly were my 25% comes from.
Of course for the small independent retailer, they only get the crumbs of the edge of the plate, it's always been that way.
Although having a Lotto terminal in your shop will increase footfall, so the revenues from that increase also have to be factored in.
As you may have guessed I work within the retail sales and marketing industry.

Funny as I never thought that I would ever win, just my way of giving to good causes, as I do not contribute to any other charity apart from the poppy appeal.

I met up with my teams in a pub car park to issue them with permits to work on the HV oh line network and found a £1 coin.
I was in our local Woolworths with my wife and I discovered the £1 coin in my pocket,as we were near the lottery desk my wife said buy a lottery ticket so I obeyed, that evening I had 5 nos and the last no was 7, the last no on the draw was 8,so near but so far,I won £1444.
I was in the pub a few weeks later and told the landlord the story and he told me that the Saturday before I found the coin a syndicate had won the lottery, celebrated in his bar, and had thrown £1 coins out the window when they were drunk.

I do it on line, so, in theory, would be informed if I won anything (ha ha). In recent months I have won a couple of £2-odd amounts on the Euro lottery and nothing for about 2 years on the national one. I have now stopped those and do Thunderball twice a week at £1 a time. Top prize is £500k, but that would set me up for what remains of my life. Always do lucky dip, ever since the amount of numbers changed and my original picks based on birthdays were no longer any use.
I once won £5 on a scratchcard, but that was many years ago now. Still, if you don't do it you can't dream....

When they put the price up I went over to euro millions, now I do the postcode lottery and the euro millions occasionally.
I can't see me doing the looto again, besides uk lottery was a better name and the change a waste of our money, if they can warrant the cost they don't need my money.

If you are looking to win from Camelot, then Thunderball is probably the best option, £500k top win, but far more chance of landing that than the Lotto jackpot, and let's face it £500k is plenty for most folk, and no media attention.

We tried the Post Code lottery and that was even worse than the Lotto. Gave up on that one after about a year and winning virtually nothing.

I must confess I paid the idiot tax for the first 2 years and concluded it cost me 104 quid for a return of 10 quid.
I now have a lucky 15 with Ladbrokes every Saturday and have broken even ‘ish over 4 years and there’s more to watch
------------- Best Regards

You stand a better chance of winning on a roulette wheel than winning anything on a lottery.

I have just won £30 on last nights lottery. First win for nearly two years. Not particularly worried as I like the work the charity does.
