Not for me, but SIL has just been given a week's notice from her employers, govt funded and to do with delivering training to disadvantaged adults. Is it legal to give a week's notice and what about redundany payment? She is 66.
She will need to know the terms of her contract I’d imagine. Length of service? Full time?
Do you have anymore info that might help? Is she retired already in receipt of a pension but still working ? If not what is her returement age and would that be a better option ? So a wee bit more info might help you get better answers than mine, though I suspect the key is in her terms of service
I depends on the circumstances, how you're employed eg an agency worker, self employed etc..
You can look all this up, but basically for a redundancy
if you're employed:;
The statutory redundancy notice periods are:
at least one week’s notice if employed between one month and 2 years
one week’s notice for each year if employed between 2 and 12 years
12 weeks’ notice if employed for 12 years or more
However the employer might offer pay in lieu of notice, give 'garden leave' etc.
You can also look up statuary redundancy payments, although the employer may offer more.
------------- Two drifters off to see the world.
I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.
No idea, or even if she has one. Don't know who she actually works for. I was encouraged (forced) to train as a teacher, utter disaster and has put me off the topic of education for life, so what she tells me about her job goes in one ear and out the other I'm afraid.
