We used to wonder why people raved about Isabella awnings and why they are so much more expensive. At Easter an Isabella Porch awning was for sale locally at a good price so we bought it and can see the quality people appreciate. The fibreglass poles are strong yet lightweight, the way they are assembled means there is no chance of them slipping and marking the van. The awning we bought is at least 10 years old yet stood firm against 40mph winds near Land's End at Easter. I suppose the adage 'you get what you pay for' is true in this case. So we are now converts 😊
I have had two Pathfinders the first one had a Pennine awning, the second one has a Isobella awning. Apart from the fact that the new one is made of quick drying material which is very useful in itself. When comparing the two awnings I would say that the Pennine awning was slightly better made. the reason being is that the stitching on the Isobella has or had cotton thread hanging off where the stitching ends, in order to make it look neater I trimmed them off with a pair of scissors, it also had bits of canvas thread hanging out from some of the joins that also needed trimming off. If I remember correctly the replacement cost of the original Pennine awning was £1000 the replacement cost of the Isobella awning is £1500. To be quiet honest about it I don't understand where the extra cost comes in. If I had a choice and using the same material I would definitely have a Pennine awning. Sorry if this conflicts , but that is my own experience.
