Is it because I live just beyond a London post code I pay over £680 per year for storage? It seems to clobber those caravanners who don't live anywhere within a 100 mile radius of London?

This topic has been covered before even though it's been a while ago but the general feedback was the further north you store the caravan the cheaper it becomes so storing the caravan witin a 100 mile radius of London seems likely that you will get clobbered on storage site fees unfortunately. Interesting to see if any other members reply who store their caravan within the given radius to see what the fees are.

I paid £650 for a CAMC storage pitch in Hertfordshire this year. When I started looking in 2018, it was one of the cheaper ones with any worthwhile security and/or vacancies and/or good/convenient access times. Vacant space availability is another problem in the London area too!

I know people in other parts of the country pay something like half of what it costs anyone in the London area.

Using a recognised secure site may cost more, but that can usually be offset by a discount on your caravan insurance, that effectively brings the cost down a little bit.

It intrigues me why insurance companies like you to store on an all-singing/all-dancing secure site. Yet are happy, as an alternative, to let it sit on any old drive anywhere. I bet more get swiped from the owners premises than any storage site, 'secure' or not.
Caravans really are a gold-plated cash cow for insurance companies.

Think you are correct, more get swiped from driveways than storage sites, that's why insurers offer discounts for recognised secure storage. The other oft overlooked risk with vans on driveways is that when the van is not there it's an advert to thieves that you're away and house is empty and therefore a prime target!

This OP seems to be saying that storage costs less in and around London. Doesn't sound right.
