We will be spending a few days at Caravan Club site at Burrs Country Park, Bury.
We will be meeting up with some friends that we met in Spain earlier this year.
We all like a curry, can any one recommend an Indian Restaurant in Bury or Bolton?

Well, i never thought i'd say it, but after relocating 150 miles down country, our 'new' curry house is as good as anything we ever found in the Bradford area. Its quite funny, because after a few beers i forewarned the owner where we'd originated, and knew a good curry when we saw one, and he seemed genuinely impressed that he was in the presence of 'experts'. So now we have 'afficionado' status when we go in. Maybe he just tries harder, i dont know. But his currys are always bloody good, for a two bit town on the edge of nowhere.

I am a local franbee living just 6 miles North of Bury.
Not sure that I would recommend anywhere in Bury, your campsite is on my cycle route, I do a loop that takes me past Elton reservoir, down into Radcliffe and back up to Ramsbottom, a nice but lumpy 16 miles, keeps me fit, but not that you would notice, too many pubs along the ride.
Anyway first choice Nila at Rawtenstall, and second choice Cardamon Cream at Ramsbottom.
Both are a bit special, and a cut above your regular Indian restaurant, or maybe that’s me being a bit fussy.

I too am a local, living just 3 miles from Bury. However I don't know a lot about restaurants. I think the last Indian I went to that side was the Forts of India at Whitefield, but that was some time ago.

Yep, we had a family bash at the Forts of India, well over ten years ago, as my in-laws used to live in Whitefield, prior to their passing, fairly good Indian but not in the same league as the two I mentioned.
In fact me and Mrs Francais had our wedding reception at the Bell Waldron back in 1982 not sure if the Forts of India was there back then.
But Kwiksave, Hanbury’s and Lennon’s was, wow those were the days.

Like a lot of eateries of any persuasion, curry houses are totally reliant on the quality of the chef. Before we moved, our favourite went from a 9 to a 3 overnight, because the chef left. The food was no better than a jar of Sharwoods. And might even have been jars of Sharwoods for all we know. But, luckily we moved soon after, and i thought id never have a decent curry ever again due to moving from the 'heartlands'. But i was wrong.
