Insurance for a dog. Is this normal? I know people that don't bother with insurance, never mind any canines they may have in tow.
I agree totally. I cannot understand why you would do this.
Take the money you would pay to the insurance company, and build up a level of savings. If you do this for a number of smaller, non compulsory insurance policies, you will become your own insurance company.
If I buy a new kettle from curry's they will try to sell me an insurance policy to cover the product. Obviously some people will take it, or they wouldn't offer it.
I just don't understand why some people fall for it.
As previously stated, when putting money aside that you would pay an insurance company for a pet will come nowhere close to a vets bill.
You would have to have numerous years of saving and no claims for it to be viable. Then it could be wiped out in an instant.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I never took out insurance for our dog,she just passed away at the age of 17 and apart from the normal visits for passports etc she cost us nothing.
It's a gamble and that's how insurance companies make their money.

If that were the case, how on earth are insurance companies staying in business?
I paid over 10000 quid in insurance fees over a ten year period for two dogs and over the same period could only claim £300. When 1 dog died I stopped the insurance for the remaining one, she’s now 12 and a half, fit as a butchers dog and I am £1500 quid in pocket, don’t tell me that won’t pay for any minor treatment abroad.
Since I moved from London 20yrs ago, I havn't had pet insurance. What I have done is open an ISA for them, at one point they had more in their account than I did in mine. The ISA account is still active for them, tho the interest rates have plummeted.
