Can anyone recommend a free video editing software package. The ones I have tried are only free trials.

Can’t help from experience, as I’m Mac-based and I’d guess you’re looking for Windows app. We have IMovie built in; one reason why Macs are better value than they appear.

What are your needs, John? Are you looking to do short edits, file conversion, make longer movies, or the next CGI epic?

You might be able to find something open source at sourceforge.net, a good place to go for projects in development.

I have Pinnacle Studio 11, but only use it for very fancy editing - for basic AND fairly good editing, I use Windows Movie Maker - it works perfectly (for me) on Windows 10. Both 32bit and 64bit versions are available here (links in the blue panel). Perhaps considered older, but therefore not over-cluttered with "extras"....

Windows 10 comes with a free video editor. It's actually reasonably good ! It's part of the Photos app https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/photo-movie-editor

Thanks fo all your replys. For some reason I cannot download the Windows 10 editor, however I have downloaded Videopad and this seems to be OK for me.
