Fairly sure that the crofter one is from a '60s documentary - crofters used to 'shear' their collies so they could keep an eye out for sheep ticks on the dogs.

I cut my own hair and have for many years, I hate hairdressers' prattle plus my hair used to be thin as well as fine. It's not so bad now but the last time I went for a cut I got "what do you expect me to do with this?" put me off somewhat! Need to get clippers for OH,I do mine with nail scissors.

We haven't got any hair clippers so I was wondering if my better half could do mine with our electric carving knife or am I likely to loose an ear or two?
