Our Aldi was quite a mixture. Young, old, and in between. There is another one currently being built, again about 3 miles away but in a different direction. We would probably have been trying it when it opened but it seems like we now won't be able to for a while. All I hope is that when it does open and we are able to go there, it has a bigger car park than our regular one as that was a nightmare trying to park. Often I had to drive round and round the car park waiting for someone to leave, and all the time more cars were coming in. I suppose that was because it is right in the town centre so space is very limited, and they had to choose between more car parking or a bigger store. They chose the latter.
Up till now I have been lucky enough to get slots on Asda. I have one for Monday and then again for a week on Tuesday (14th). I doubt I will be able to get any more after that because Asda are now only releasing slots for 7 days ahead but instead of releasing them in weekly blocks so everyone has a chance, they are releasing them one day at a time. Therefore, every night from about 10pm to well after midnight (the days slots are released at midnight) the website is jammed with people trying to grab all the slots on just that one day...got a better chance of winning the lottery!!.
Therefore, I have no choice but to search other supermarkets and grab whatever slots I am lucky enough to find even if I have to do two shops in the same week and store stuff.
I am not 'panic buying'...I don't have the space to store too much, but I need to have enough food in reserve in case I simply cannot get a slot on any one week.

OH got loo roll today from our corner shop, we were down to our last roll.
Last time we did our big Aldi shop, which was several weeks back, they had plenty. We bought our usual pack of nine as we were getting low, and we've still got most of them. Well, there are only the two of us. If we'd bought 50 of them as some were doing, they would have lasted us until after Christmas.
