We've started booking UK sites provisionally from June. Once the ban is lifted, every man and his dog is going to be clamouring to get away somewhere. Including all those who would normally be abroad. 1000's will not have yet used their outifts once this year. As our is new (to us) - bought in Jan., we've never yet used it!
Booked Portsmouth to Caen 25th June cant see it happening.
B F state all cancelled bookings up to 22nd April will be cancelled and customers contacted direct do not ring. as we have all entered into a contract with B F they will only issue a voucher or refund as the date is moved forward.
However, if you cancel first you will more than likely lose your deposit as you have broken the contract, as the date you wish to cancel is still available from B F
If you pay the balance in full as previously agreed by automation from your bank in anticipation of still travelling? and B F cancel the dates and booking you are entitled to a voucher or refund as B F have broken the contract. this means you wont lose your deposit contractually its a waiting game that needs B F to move first.
B F will have all your money, but a high percentage of travellers will probably rebook this year or next year.
Lets face it we are campers and caravaneers its a way of life and a good one. We need the ferry company's and Eurotunnel or no travelling to Europe I feel we need to support them if you can possibly do so?
Personally we are prepared to accept a voucher for 2021 if that is what it comes to?
Please feel free to correct anything stated this is just my understanding of the situation.
I feel very sorry for all campsite owners all over Europe and the UK and hope they can survive this year and our favorite campsites in Perigord noir France and the UK and the ferry company's exist for a long time to come.
Good luck and good health to all, stay safe stay home.
My mate paid his deposit for a late may France trip. The onus was on him to pay the balance. He hasn't, only being £78 down to date. Do we think he has kissed goodbye to this?
On a broader note; i think there will be a large number of sites in France go to the wall, when you think just how many there are dotted about. Unfortunate, but i don't see how they can absorb what may be 6-9 months without income. That said, i would not consider even looking abroad till next year now.
The WHO says that this virus is going to circulate to some degree for a year or two until its eradicated. Given its potency, and ease of transmission, i would not like to think i contracted this by racing back to France or wherever the minute restrictions are lifted, as you may never see UK soil again.
Though i can see such as the French opening up for business at the earliest opportunity to try resurrect their economy. Maybe too soon though??
Received an email to say our ticket is economy which means if we cancel we loose the full amount. It also said if they cancel we would received a voucher or have 12 months to change the date at the cost to us any if any price increase we would have to pay the difference,
I am not sure if we can travel next year , hopefully our travel insurance will be able to help get our money back.
If all that is stopping you going this year is that the restrictions my still be on in mid June then just wait & see. If France is lifting some restrictions by May 11th then by mid June campsites might be open & we can all go.

Has anyone received confirmation regarding ferry cancelled we have booked 19th June still waiting on bf to let us know either way
BF have only contacted those whose ferries are definitely cancelled.
At present their passenger timetable is showing sailings restarting on 16 May which is about the date the French/Spanish lockdown rules are due to be reviewed.
I very much doubt that theses sailing in May/June or even beyond will happen unless there is a big let up of restrictions in France/Spain to allow foreign visitors/tourists in so presumably BF will start contacting customers with booking for these dates as soon as they have confirmation that the sailings cannot go ahead.
I've been advised to hang tight and see what happens as if you cancel an advertised sailing you loose all rights to a refund/credit note, but if they cancel then you get one automatically.
If, in the unlikely event they do ease up the restrictions on travelling abroad before our intended journey in early June, we'll claim off our holiday insurance as due to our health we'll still officially be in isolation due to our shielded status until mid June at the earliest. Our insurance have confirmed this will be possible as we took this out before their cut off date for excluding Covid-19 from their T&C.
Might be worth checking with your own insurance company what they will cover.
As above, it's too early yet to hear about June crossings. At the moment the assumption is that they'll still go ahead, but if BF cancel them (which may not be till mid-May onwards) they will contact you - I was given a credit note for my cancelled April crossing.
We booked through Caravan Motorhome club for BF late May crossing returning early July paid £75 deposit in December 2019, remainder should of been paid early April we phoned day before it was due and got offered voucher to use later in 2020 which is no good to us, we said wanted refund because we did not cancel BF did and got full deposit refunded. Also travel insurance refunded in full. Campsite deposit will be held for next year which means as long as we go next year not out of pocket at all.
Stay Safe macaw
rang Bf they are contacting 3 weeks before travel if cancelled. As we booked on economy booking but paid in full in January all they are prepared to issue us if cancelled is a voucher to use in the next 2 years. Told her that is no good to us.
Rang Nationwide travel insurance she told me to ring her back 22nd May . She will do the refund . Hopefully that is the case I cannot see us going .
Bf say up to the 16th June are cancelled, next update the 18th May. We booked for the 19th June .. getting closer but not close enough. Will update when I find out more dates
Got an e-mail informing us the ferry was cancelled on 13 May, offering vouchers which are now sitting in my account, a couple of days after the timetable was amended.
I said the 16th June it states the 15th of June my mistake.
As for vouchers I want a, refund hopefully we should get one.. Next year is not a possibility for us. Plus if we have to have bloodtests, for the dogs it will work out very expensive. All we can do it wait.
I'm having a hard time envisaging the French, or any other EU country, having caravans - let alone 'foreign' ones, fleeting about all over the place this side of September.
