I just don't get the human race as a whole, I look around at the news and see people jumping of 200 foot cliffs which then puts a whole beach into a heard with all those implications, then I see 1000 yard queus to go into Ikea and various other shops other beaches packed with no social distancing.
Maybe its the old adage that people don't believe it will get them its only other people who get it, as for queuing well what a waste of your life anyway life too short even before this mess to waste it standing in queus.
There are some very sad people around

I know exactly what you mean! I despair too sometimes. You wouldn't get me on a packed beach normally, so I'm certainly not going to now. It's far more relaxing and comfortable in my back garden, and I have everything on hand there too. As for jumping off cliffs, well that's up to them I suppose. Not something I would have considered, even when I was a crazy teenager. I hate shopping at the best of times, so I'd have to be really desperate for something to be willing to queue.

A lot of these people arent sad at all. In fact they are having a great time. They are enjoying the beaches, the community spirit of queuing to buy a cheap bookcase, and having great fun diving off cliffs onto bare rocks then taking a dump in a hedge.

I'd suggest a lot of these people don't think they arent going to get it - a lot of them think they are going to get it anyway, so just get on with it all.

Everyone is different and some people - old and young (the only difference for some people as they grow up is their stupidity becomes their arrogance) - are dumbarses, most arent.

Social media is full of these idiots cos it makes emotive reading and gets a reaction.

The vast majority of people are Good People and arent this stupid. Its important to remember that - keep everything checked and in scale - so one does not give oneself a heart attack waving a finger at social media websites in anger.

I've just returned from shopping. No queues, no hassle - got everything we wanted. I've never fancied jumping off a cliff. I did know one unfortunate chap who dived off a pier and broke his neck when he hit the bottom. However, in my days of sailing and motorcycling, we did some pretty daft things, but when you're in your teens, you do daft things.

My daughter and OH drove to Robin Hoods bay at the weekend. She said that it was deserted. They also stopped for an ice cream and had a nice chat with the shop owner who was pleased to see some trade.

MOST people- old and young- aren't stupid.    Important to remember that when framing your reaction to the lockdown.
However- on this site its really important - REALLY important - to complain about youths / young people because of course when we were kids we were absolutely perfect. Damn those young people.

It is a subject close to a majority of people's hearts though. On here I would imagine we feel even more angry about it, as we camp in the beautiful countryside, and appreciate it too.
In my humble opinion, this sort of 'me me me' behaviour, and 'I don't give a damn, I'll do what I like' mentality started years ago. 60s and 70s weren't too bad - it started in the early 80s and has simply got worse over the years. Those feral kids are the children/grandchildren of those who started that mentality.
It affects everyone, even us campers!

so those that raised their kids in the 80`s are the children and grandchildren of those that are on here moaning about terrible parenting standards.

so, the question is, where did the rot start?

“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.” Socrates 470-399 BC

in my opinion it started when even the threat of a smacked arse was removed from a parent, that was enough to find your child on the childline phone line! add to that when the ability to say "no" to your childs demands and mean it, when the child came home from school with a detention and the child then expected an apology or non attendance of the detention and had the full backing of the parent!

so when the little darlings got everything they wanted and did as they pleased, and then went on to have kids of there own with no boundaries, so I would say around the late 90's was the demise.

Reading this anyone would think that the kids of today have it easy,

the cost of housing is so expensive that if kids are lucky enough to buy their own place they have to have 2 salaries,
no Council houses are available as they were sold off many years ago,
they now have to work till in their 70s whilst Their parents and grandparents retired at 65 some even younger with handsome packages.
They have to stay in education until you’re 18 whilst many of the grandparents left at 15, they also need a university degree to get virtually any jobs that include selling cars.
God forbid any parents that would want to take a child out of school for a cheap holiday,As they now get fined so have to take the children in the six weeks holidays when they get their hats nailed on.

The list goes on and on and on and on
