I have about 40 sq.m. of clean brick boundary wall i need rendering. Anyone any idea of what it may cost? The lines are clean, and access excellent. I am having trouble even getting quotes. And just wondered whether it was worth pursuing if it was going to be out of my price range.
Why render a perfectly good brick wall? It’ll just spall off next cold winter. If you really want it, google it & do it yourself: it’s not rocket science. 3 coats, or it is in very exposed wet west Scotland.

I have not said it was a 'perfectly good' wall. I said its clean. The brick face is coming off here and there with the frost. And i would expect anyone who knew what they were doing, could render it with a view to it staying on a good few years.
To date, from the 'checkatrade' website, i have had one offer to quote - from a roofer!
We had a small part of a wall rendered to match the rest. They used a machine to sort of blow it on the bricks. It is quite messy. It has been done 2 years now and still intact. Sorry can’t help with cost as it was part of a quote for an extension. Hope you find someone who can do a good job.

Yes, ive seen them do that. Its some sort of composite stuff like stucco, as opposed to cement render. 10 years ago i would definitely have done it myself, but i have neither the gear nor inclination now. I did 2 walls of the garage at our previous address probably 15 years ago now, and its still fully intact.

The stuff you put on with a machine is Tyrolean, it is cement based
Thanks for that. Is it 'better' than regular render, or just quicker to apply as it fired out of a machine? (im assuming its more expensive, for starters?).
GrahamWB can’t help but you on the cost, you would be better off getting quotes, what I will say is it is a bugger to paint, the suction on it means roller or brush it goes straight in, Iam a decorator by trade so have painted a few walls etc,I don’t know if you have young kids but if you have and they were to fall against it they could get a nasty graze/cuts
