I (stupidly) ordered an item and was immediately charged 20% extra labelled as tax. I raised a dispute with PayPal as the invoice amount was different to what was taken from my account and this was rejected. Now the item hasn’t arrived, I received a tracking email which appears to be fake with a delivery date of 22nd March. I believe I have been scammed. I am unable to claim my money back through PayPal as I have already raised a claim regards the tax. Can anyone please help?

They don't answer letters though, nor do they accept emails. I wrote to them weeks ago and never even got an acknowledgement of my letter. My issue was that I couldn't log on because I'm difficult to contact by phone. They know I don't have a phone they can contact but they insist on sending me a passcode to my phone before I can log on. If I try to contact them online, they want me to log on first. Aagghh!!
I don't think Paypal are pretty good, in fact I no longer use them.
I hate ringing companies such as Paypal anyway, as first you have to go through umpteen layers of menus, then they keep you on hold for ages and all the time you are paying for the call. I preferred it when if you couldn't get through to the person you wanted to speak to, you got the engaged tone. At least you didn't pay until you did get through.
Is the item coming from abroad? Some eBay sellers do put for example “item location London” & in fact item is shipped direct from China. More likely this item is coming from Europe & seller is not familiar with our new customs regime so item has been delayed. This will be the reason for the extra cost. You will either receive the item eventually with possibly an extra charge to pay or item will be returned to sender.
If you bought off eBay you should be eventually refunded. PayPal will only refund once they have clawed the money back from the sender. You do not have the protection you have when paying by credit card.
Thanks for the replies, I managed to get a response from their chat function and they have changed the status and reason on the original claim and have contacted the seller.
