My father lived on his own for a while with mild dementia and I had power of attorney. I kept a very tight reign on all his accounts and managed to dodge quite a few charlatans. He eventually had to go into a home and then passed away at 93.
When he went into the home I of course finalised all his household bills and then double checked that there was nothing outstanding.
He was in the home 18 months and I have just received a bill from the electric company for 4 pence.
Hope they can whistle.
I'd be inclined to send them a cheque for 4p. It will cause them considerable inconvenience trying to bank it in this day and age, so they probably won't bother.
All change according to news. Existing customers must be charged no more than new customers. Industry does not deny this will end the cheaper deals for us shoppers around.
