Hope you get through it ok. Must be scary. But the advances in medical science nowadays are unbelievable. Good luck.

Julia,

Only just read this and very sorry to hear your news. I sincerely hope that the treatment isn't as frightening as you think it will be but most of all that it works!

Thinking of access to your van, would a carry chair like the ambulance/first aid people have help? Our first aid group has one and it fits a caravan door but downside is it needs two to lift it with the patient.

Hopefully your supporting medical team will realise your mental wellbeing is important and if being able to spend some time in your van is seen in that light, they'll be able to help you with ideas.

Sympathies over the distance for treatment - never good when you're not well. xx

Best of British with the treatment; I hope it has the desired result and is not too debilitating for you.

Think positive and things will be positive. Don't get rid of your caravan...you will be needing it next year. Good luck.

Thankyou for all of your kind wishes, it’s very much appreciated. I’m just pleased that l Managed to get the Paramedic down out our Doctors surgery to refer me onto the Hospital after the third course of Antibiotics had failed, and not go home and take paracetamol instead. That was 4 weeks ago now, and l am soon to start Radium Therapy, with still no GP or Qualified Doctor cover in any of the two large state of the Art practices and Health centres in our Town. my care is Consultant lead, and by an ENT specialist in Cancer, who is very kind and professional.

We tried going away for a few days with our Daughter in at the 1st week of June, but l did’t feel well and we returned home early, believing that it could have been the start of the Corona virus, which we now know it was not.
Boab, we still have our Caravan, we cleared it out to sell it, but never did, and being that Bill is almost 81 now, l not think that we ever will now, it will stay until we are no more!

I realise you haven't posted for a while Romany Girl / Julia, so am hoping all is well with you.

It's sad when long-term UKCS contributors just stop posting, especially in circumstances such as these.

Sending very best wishes.

After almost 40 years as Campers and Caravanners we have been forced by ill health to retire for good. I have been diagnosed with Throat Cancer, and I’m about to start Radiotherapy at 64years old. We still have our caravan, which will be usefull for when our Daughters come to stay with me. I’m still feeling rather frightened about it all, and the treatment that lays ahead of me in the form of Radiotherapy.

I’m feeling quite poorly at the moment, but l realise that l have some good friends and fellow campers on here.

Julia

I was seventy one when diagnosed with throat cancer and had to undergo the radio and chemo therapy.    It knocked me for a six for a couple of months. Treatment finished last year in January. I am still here and we still have the same caravan and we go out regularly. During my treatment it was something to look forward to so don't give up hope as life will return to normal after treatment. Today I went for my check up and still all clear.
