I shall be off to Dorset again soon, second time this year at my favourite site, this time at my favourite pitch, at the end of a row, with just one unit as my neighbour.
Pitch fee has gone up steadily through the years, and is 21.50 GBP for a grass pitch with 10A EHU plus a dog for mid-season.
Hopefully, it will be quieter than in April 2021 which was the first week of easing of restrictions. I was on a service pitch in case the facilities blocks could not re-open fully. However, the pitch was next to a path that was used by critters and ankle biters as a skating run. And I was surrounded by other campers, some were small groups. It was not the best trip I had stayed there.
Can't wait!

That sounds just like the pitch we had at the beginning of July. We were on an end pitch, the caravan next to us was obviously a seasonal and only occupied by an older couple for our middle weekend, and the same with the two pitches opposite to us. Very peaceful. We paid £23.50 for a grass pitch with EHU, about our upper limit but it was worth it to get such a huge pitch and the peace and quiet.
I would probably be willing to pay more, depending on the facilities, location and review.
However, I shan't stay at a site that does not provide a single person discount for a standard grass or hard-standing pitch with EHU.
I have already booked 2 sites for 2022, one being a C&CC Club Site for the Easter weekend; and the other an independent site in the Peak District for the first full week of July 2022 before the school holidays; paid a deposit for both sites.
The latter increased their pitch fee from 22.00 GBP for 2021 to 23.2 GBP for next year, which I believe is reasonable.

Must admit I have never been camping as a single person, only as a couple or a family, but it does surprise me that any site would give a discount to a single person. After all, many hotels charge single occupants extra. Looking at it from the site's perspective, a single camper is occupying a pitch where they could possibly accommodate a family of 6, so they are already losing money letting to a single person, being as they seem to charge per person these days rather than per pitch as they once did.
I don't usually go on package holidays, and would not pay for single supplement if I were to do so.
When I book rooms using Booking.com, I look for single person rates, whether they already include a supplement I would not know.
I can appreciate why hotels would charge more than 50% of a double room for single occupancy, as they have to make the bed and clean the room regardless whether one person or two people have occupied it.
However, with camping pitches, the same is not true IMHO, in that apart from the pitch itself, I use half the utilities as a couple. Therefore, I believe I should be given a single person discount if a pitch is priced for 2 people.
I do not expect a 50% discount, some discount in the region of 1.00 to 2.00 GBP per night, yes.
