The problem is CBD thats legal isnt strong enough, You can get stronger that works on severe pain but its not legal but is available if you know where to go.

Medicinal variety is being tested for various uses such as reducing the dreadful hallucinations that people with Parkinson’s can suffer from. I believe it’s also used to reduce the worst epilepsy and alleviate MS symptoms. We just have to distinguish between what anyone can buy over the counter, what has to be prescribed and what currently has to be obtained from other less legitimate sources. I knew someone who grew their own, for their own use, discreetly.

I had serious, aches and pains in my arms and legs 3 months ago, I eventually got a GP appointment and after a blood test, diagnosed with PMR, Poly Myalgia Rumatica, so a 4 month course of Predisnilone, ( a steroid ) after 2 days all joint pains disappeared, and I was able to get back on my motor bike. I am 69.

Steroids are used for all sorts of inflammatory conditions.

I’ve been prescribed it many times over the years and it does feel like a miracle drug at reducing pain and increasing mobility. Unfortunately doctors will only prescribe it sparingly and are reluctant to use it long term due to it’s horrendous side effects if taken for a long time or in high doses, so it’s unsuitable for most long conditions.

I’ve got several painful inflammatory conditions and have had several treatments, including steroids, over the years. I’m now on biologics drugs which help to control the conditions but don’t really overcome all of the pain in my damaged joints so I am also prescribed some pretty strong painkillers. I’m reluctant to take these on a regular basis as they can lead to dependency. I therefore now take CBD every night and it does help.

Cannabis has been used for centuries to help with pain. It still is in many parts of the world but since 1928 it has been illegal in the UK unless you have special dispensation, which is rarely given. However, as has been said, CBD, the ‘good’ compounds of cannabis left once others compounds such as THC, the compound that gets you ‘high’ has been extracted, is legal.

The main problem with CBD is getting it at the right strength to help. Many of the products available in the UK have so little CBD that they are useless or are recommended in the wrong amounts. It pays to do some research then shop around. There is some very good advice here

Well reporting back that it's having very good effect in that she's feeling less pain thankfully and there are NO other effects so she's not getting high with only positive results.

Also she's sleeping better and feeling more cheerful in herself so win win we both think and I've started taking it and so far with the same good results.

So two happy bunnies me thinks

Just to add neither of us have turn into hippies yet or started calling people man!

Have you been prescribed this by the doctor, or have you bought it yourself? If so, could you recommend which one to buy? It seems it’s a minefield to find one privately which is effective. Many thanks.

Well all's good I'm pleased to say for both me and my beloved as it's easing our pains to the point of not needing pain killers.

I got the one we are using from Holland and Barrett    It's Jacob Hooy 10mgs, they have all sorts but we are using the capsols which I bought after chatting to a retired doctor friend and he said to give it a try so we did.

10mg strength isn't much for severe pain. The one I take as a spray underneath your tongue (and it tastes horrible, but works!) is 500mgs CBD and CBDa. It's Dutch CBD oil by a firm called Love CBD and it's strong and expensive. But it works. I bought mine from our local health food shop but you can buy it online as well.

I took it for pain, didn't help much.

I inadvertently discovered it helped me with insomnia of the type where you wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep. Also helped reduce anxiety.

The downside of it for the sleep benefits is that I built a tolerance for it, like people do with caffeine. That and I feel a bit groggy the next morning and need a few cups of tea.

Totally worth it if I am feeling anxious and worried about sleeping through the night.

Due to the tolerance building effect I try not to take it unless I feel like I am likely to have trouble sleeping. If I have a tough spell and take it every day for a while I try not to increase the dose.

Would you be worried about driving the next morning, or is it not the stuff that you might get tested for, if I have asked that correctly?

What is CBD? I've seen RA and MS mentioned, but what does it do? The mrs has RA, but has never - knowingly, had CBD for it.

CBD is
cannabidiol, is the second most prevalent active ingredient in cannabis (marijuana).
The whole thread may answer your question.
