Hello I'm looking to renew my House and contents insurance can anybody recommend a good company especially if they have made a claim, also ones to avoid. Thanks.
We have been with NFU for many years for contents insurance. Our home was flooded due to a burst pipe and it was a no quibble claim to the tune of in excess of £5000. I would recommend them.
LV, been with them for years, also made a flood claim (from the River Lea), no quibble. It was much more difficult persuading the council that a flood bank was needed.

Ive just changed to Policy Expert.
Much cheaper than previous insurer.
I've no experience of making a claim, but their reviews are very good.
Thought I would get a quote from the above insurer as my renewal notice has just come in and inflated because I had a claim last year
Ageas Insurance was £ 279.64 risen to £410.84for 2022
Interesting. After years of swapping car insurance to get the cheapest (I know this is a household insurance post, bear with me), I noticed that the policies were all underwritten by the same insurance - that was Aegas (acting as RIAS). Brokers (like John Lewis Partnership) will add their own profit, I don’t know if Policy Expert is a broker or if it sells their own insurance policies.
OH insured his car with John Lewis & they wouldn’t budge on the price. RIAS or Aegas was almost half, which fits the previous post.
I rather not advise on household insurance because there are so many variables - flood risk, number of rooms, terraced or detached etc. Ours is also for rebuilding as well as the contents - some people have separate insurance for these.,

Think I will stay with Ageas
OUCH! That's really strange!
My like for like saved over £100.
